Madonna has opened her first gym in Mexico.
The 'Celebration' hitmaker - well known for her intense workout regime and sporty physique - attended the opening of the Hard Candy Fitness centre in Mexico City yesterday (29.11.10) and noted the name was an important part of the "sexy" brand.
She said: "It's a sexy name that gives you the opportunity to have fun and to build strength as far as the imagination will allow."
The 52-year-old singer added she was not skimping on price with the gyms, which will eventually be launched worldwide, and plans for them to be "first-class" fitness establishments.
She said: "If any of you have seen my shows, you know that I don't skimp on them and the same is true for the gum. We spend what it takes to make a globally first-class gym."
In addition to cutting the ribbon at the gym, Madonna also gave a dance class to 20 handpicked members to music from DJ Paul Oakenfold.
Discussing the decision to launch the gyms in Mexico, Madonna said in a statement last week she hoped the establishment could be "fine-tuned" before being rolled out worldwide.
She said: "Our plan is to use Mexico as a place to fine-tune our brand and then expand it to other countries and, in the long term, develop a global brand that includes the United States."

Stella McCartney has given birth to a baby girl.
The British fashion designer - the daughter of Beatles legend Sir Paul McCartney - delivered her fourth child with husband Alasdhair Willis on November 23 at Portland Hospital in London and the tot weighed a healthy 8lbs.
The overjoyed couple have named their new arrival Reiley, who joins her three siblings, Miller, five, Bailey, three, and two-year-old Beckett.
The 39-year-old fashionista was recently inspired by her large family to make an affordable range of clothes for children which she wants to be "timeless".
She said: "I just find it wrong to do a kids' line and be incredibly expensive, purely by dint of being a designer brand.
"Children's clothes have become disposable in order to be accessible. I wanted to do affordable and accessible kids clothes that are still timeless with a great quality that you would want to pass down for generations.
"Kids and parents, aunts, uncles, friends, should all be able to have access to Stella McCartney Kids clothes. We have tried to make that possible in this first collection, and hope it is enjoyed!"
The fourth addition to Stella's family means Paul McCartney now has seven grandchildren.

Cheryl Cole has landed a £3 million deal to be a judge on the US 'X Factor'.
The 'Promise This' singer - who has won the past two consecutive seasons of the UK show with her acts Alexandra Burke and Joe McElderry - will join Simon Cowell on the Stateside judging panel after impressing show bosses with her "good looks" and natural "chemistry" with the music mogul.
An insider told The Sun newspaper: "It's a dream come true. Cheryl was absolutely delighted. She has really charged the American execs. They love her good looks and the way she wears her heart on her sleeve.
"And of course her chemistry with Simon played a huge part in it. They are great together."
Fox bosses jetted to London on Saturday night (27.11.10) to see the 27-year-old star in action as her remaining acts Rebecca Ferguson, Cher Lloyd and Katie Waissel - who was eliminated from the competition on Sunday - battled it out in the UK pop star search show.
While Cheryl is yet to sign the official contract, filming for the US 'X Factor' is due to begin in the spring with the series broadcast in the run-up to Christmas 2011.
Meanwhile, Pussycat Dolls singer Nicole Scherzinger - who appeared on the UK show as a guest judge earlier in the year - is also believed to be in the running to join the line-up.
Simon is expected to make an official announcement within the next month.
He recently said: "I'm going to make an announcement within three or four weeks, which is going to tell everyone everything. There will be some surprises. OK, one of the judges has quite long hair."

Daniel Radcliffe is Britain's youngest rich star
Daniel Radcliffe has been named as the richest British celebrity under the age of 30, with two of his 'Harry Potter' co-stars also making the top five.
Daniel Radcliffe is the richest British star under 30.
The 'Harry Potter' actor has made an estimated £45.6 million, £25 million of which comes from the final two films in the series 'The Deathly Hallows', alone, almost £15 million more than the second-placed star, 25-year-old Keira Knightley, who has made a fortune of £30.1 million so far.
Four of the top five money-makers in the list compiled by heat magazine come from the wizard movie series made famous by Daniel, with Emma Watson and Rupert Grint making £20.6 million and £19 million respectively.
'Twilight: Saga' actor Robert Pattinson - who appeared in 'Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire' - was placed fifth, having earned £18.5 million so far.
Britain's highest earning music star is 'Bleeding Love' singer Leona Lewis, who has generated a £12.5 million fortune since winning 'The X Factor' in 2006, placing her in sixth place.
Heat editor Sam Delaney said the list proved not all rich people are "corrupt, cigar-chomping fat cats".
He said: "In these tight financial times, there's a great deal of animosity felt towards society's richest. But who could possibly resent the millions earned by a charming young rascal like Daniel Radcliffe?
"The heat rich list is proof that not all mega-rich people are corrupt, cigar-chomping fat cats. This list is full of young people who have largely made their cash out of putting smiles on other people's faces"
Other notable inclusions on the list include Sienna Miller at 17, who at £6.1 million has earned less than Arctic Monkeys' singer Alex Turner, who has amassed an estimated fortune of £7.5 million.
'X Factor' judge Cheryl Cole has earned £7.9 million, putting her ahead of all her Girls Aloud bandmates.

Alex Reid wants to stop being a "loveable prat" and show who he really is.
The cage fighter and bit part actor - who is married to glamour model Katie Price - wants people to take his acting career more seriously and is hoping to win new roles in gritty drama programmes.
Alex said: "I don't think I always get portrayed in the correct light. I'm a Rodney Trotter, like in 'Only Fools And Horses', which is nice, but the thing is I've got goals.
"It's great being a loveable prat but, when you've got aspirations you're limited. I want some very serious acting roles.
"I really loved the new 'Spartacus: Blood And Sand' series. That would be a good job, or something with politics, religion, sex and violence."
The frustrated star has appeared in his wife's 'What Katie Did Next' reality show, but said he's keen to move on from reality TV, despite planning his own show 'I Am Alex Reid'.
He added: "I don't want to be doing any more reality shows like 'What Katie Did Next'. I like to keep that privacy and mysticism. I don't want the cameras there 24/7.
"Will my show answer questions about my relationship with Katie? No, not really because it's not about my private life. Well, maybe it will. I'm sure it will. This is why I don't like to do reality because I like to keep that mysticism to keep a healthy relationship.
"There's a bit of family-life stuff but that's not the focus. It's about me being independent rather than part of the Katie Price machine."
The cage fighter - who is stepfather to his wife's children Harvey, eight, Junior, five and Princess, three - also admitted he rarely sits down to watch Katie's shows.
He told new! magazine: "I don't, to tell you the truth, because I've seen it for real, but I try and watch to see what's going out there."
