Katie Price

(BANG) -

Katie Price has announced she has split from her husband Alex Reid.

Following weeks of reports the couple were to separate, the British TV star has released a no-holds barred statement confirming the end of her relationship with the cage fighter.

Katie blames the break-up on Alex becoming "fascinated by life in the media eye" and insists the pair tied the knot "too quickly" after dating for just seven months.

In the statement, she said: "Alex and I have had a number of difficulties over the past few months. I accept that these were in part caused by my marrying too quickly - we all make mistakes and this was one. However, Alex changed from the man I fell in love with and some of his behaviour became difficult for me to understand and caused issues. I have tried to help him with these issues but they have put a considerable strain on our relationship.

"Our difficulties were also not helped by Alex becoming more fascinated by life in the media eye. Obviously I cannot be critical of someone wanting to do this and originally I tried to help him with his career by getting him contracts with my production company. If Alex wants to honour those contracts the production company is more than happy to do so. However, Alex's desire to promote himself caused a change in the dynamic of our relationship and contributed to our alienation."

The 32-year-old beauty also revealed she is furious with Alex, 35, for posing for photographs with her five-year-old son Junior - whose father is her ex-husband Peter Andre - in a martial arts gym and says she feels "let down" by his actions because he knows she wants to keep her kids out of the public eye.

Katie - who also has a three-year-old daughter Princess Tiaamii with Peter and an eight-year-old son Harvey from an earlier relationship - added in the statement: "I had hoped that Alex and I could remain friends but I am not sure if that is possible given events since last Sunday (16.01.11) when we were on the verge of releasing a statement. Alex asked that we did not release any statement because he wanted more time to think. The intervening period has, however, seen a number of false stories appear and photographs of Alex with my son Junior in the gym which it is absolutely clear were posed for. Alex is fully aware that I have sought to remove my children from the public eye now they are of an age to understand and be affected by media coverage of them. I feel incredibly let down that he did this while asking me for more time to discuss our relationship."

Katie - who wed Alex in a private ceremony in Las Vegas in February 2010 - insists she is now determined to focus on her children but is disappointed the marriage failed.

She said: "I am deeply upset that my relationship with Alex has failed but I know it is the right thing for my children and I that we separate. My children are my absolute priority in this and they are being shielded from what is happening."

Alex has now moved out of the mansion he shared with Katie in Surrey, Southern England, and is believed to be moving back into his parents Carol and Bob's house in Aldershot, Hampshire.

Sir Elton John and David Furnish

(BANG) -

Sir Elton John and David Furnish's baby "shot out like a rocket" on the day he was born.

The couple - who welcomed surrogate baby Zachary into the world on Christmas Day (25.12.10) - rushed to witness the "dramatic" birth of their first child, which saw the obstetrician have to catch the infant in his arms.

Elton explained: "Suddenly, at 2.15am on Christmas Day, we were woken up. They said, 'Quickly! The baby's coming!' We went in and stood behind the bed. Then the top of the head came out and David said, 'My God, there's the head!'

"Then he shot out like a rocket basically - so much so that the obstetrician sort of caught him! It was so dramatic and exciting, we didn't have time to get emotional. Like there he was, talk about fast!"

Despite being one of the world's wealthiest couples, the pair plan to be "hands on" parents and will only be spoiling Zachary with love, rather than material possessions.

Elton added to OK! magazine: "I feed him. David feeds him. We change his nappies. I mean, it's hands on! We are on nappy patrol.

"I'm ready to have a child and lavish my love on our son and not spoil him but be there for him and advise him. We don't want to spoil him materially, although he's already been spoiled rotten by people buying him stuff! We just want to give him some wisdom."

Alex Reid

(BANG) -

Alex Reid still wants to save his marriage to Katie Price.

The 35-year-old cage-fighter - who has reportedly been told to leave the marital home he shares with his wife - fought against the former glamour model announcing the end of their 11-month union last week and is still hopeful they can get their relationship back on track.

He said: "I still want to save my relationship. I'm in bits over this. I'm still wearing my wedding ring - maybe I'm a hopeless romantic, but there you go.

"I want to work on our marriage. Maybe I am an optimist, but I believe in doing the honourable thing."

Despite his optimism, Alex admits he is struggling to cope with the situation but still wants to give Katie, 32, his full attention.

He told Star magazine: "I am feeling very emotional. It has not been the easiest week. It is all very upsetting.

"Despite us both being busy with other things in our life, I have always made time for my wife. I would sacrifice anything to spend time with her. She has always been my priority."

As well as trying to repair his marriage, Alex is throwing himself into his attempts to launch an acting career and is relieved work offers him a sanctuary from his marital woes.

He said: "I am really happy to have my acting to focus on at the moment. It is escapism to be able to step into another role, and it takes my mind off everything else that is going on in my life at the moment."

Meanwhile, Katie's first husband, singer Peter Andre - the father of her youngest children, Junior, five, and three-year-old Princess Tiaamii - is worried about the impact his former spouse's relationship woes will have on their kids.

He wrote in his column for new! magazine: "Everyone keeps asking me what I think about my ex-wife and her husband splitting up. All I will say is that, as always, my main concern is for my children and I am doing everything in my power to give them as stable an upbringing as possible.

"All I care about in this situation is my kids."

Katie - who also has eight-year-old son Harvey from an earlier relationship - is believed to have offered Alex a £250,000 settlement to end their marriage, but he has asked for more from her.

Sarah Harding

(BANG) -

Sarah Harding was shocked when her boyfriend proposed on a recent holiday.

Although the Girls Aloud singer has been dating DJ Tom Crane for over three years, she admitted it was a total surprises when he got down on one knee on New Year's Eve (31.12.10) in the Maldives, in the Indian Ocean.

She said: "It was a complete surprise. I wasn't expecting it at all. I am very, very happy. It's a new chapter."

While the loved-up couple are happier than ever, the 29-year-old singer admitted it wasn't all romance on their trip as they managed to sneak in a spot of fishing during their holiday.

Sarah admitted to The Sun newspaper: "Me and Tommy love it, we're getting pretty good at it too. The first time we went out we didn't catch anything so we went out the following day at the crack of dawn.

"We got up at 4.30 to get out at first light. We were there for hours but it paid off. It was brilliant. I've had a few big ones now.

"One recently was huge, I didn't know what was on the end of the line at first - it was massive but it got away."

Sarah and Tom's fishing obsession is so serious the pair have even bought a number of books on the subject.

She said: "There are so many different types. It's hard to remember their names so we've bought a few books."
