Amy Winehouse was in court yesterday (24.07.09) over allegations she "punched" a dancer "forcefully".
The 'Rehab' singer is accused of attacking Sherene Flash at a charity ball last September when the 30-year-old woman tried to get her photograph taken with Amy.
Speaking at the City of London Magistrates' Court, Sherene said: "She punched me forcefully in my right eye. I started crying. I was shocked. I couldn't open my eye for a while."
She also claims the 25-year-old singer was intoxicated at the Berkeley Square Ball, adding: "Maybe like she was on drugs or something."
However, Amy - who is on trial for common assault - insists she merely pushed the woman away because she felt "intimidated" when Sherene "lunged" at her for a photograph.
The troubled star said: "She moved her left arm to lean down and tried to pose next to me. Her friend came round in front of us and started taking a picture. I was like, 'Do I get a choice in this, hello?' I pushed her up, like away. It was more like an indication of 'leave me alone, I'm scared of you.'
"I didn't know what she was going to do. She lunged at me and put her arm around me. She's a nice girl, she was just drunk."
Amy - who wore an asymmetric grey suit, waist belt and silk ballet pumps for her appearance - told the courtroom she felt threatened by the dancer, because, at 5ft 7ins tall, she towered above her diminutive frame.
The 'Back to Black' singer said: "These are the very shoes I was wearing that night. Look - these don't even have a sole, they don't have a heel. I am probably 5ft 2.5ins to 5ft 3ins. And my hair does make a difference!
"She was bigger than me. I pushed my arm upwards. I just wanted to get her away. I was scared."
Amy used her marital name - Amy Civil - yesterday when giving evidence. The first stage of her divorce from husband Blake Fielder-Civil was granted last week.
The trial continues.

Robert Pattinson has lost his car.
The 'Twilight' actor can't recall where he left the vehicle, despite it being incredibly important to him, after his hectic filming and travelling schedule left him disorganised.
He is reported as saying: "I don't even remember where I left my car. It's probably been towed away by now.
"It's upsetting because it was the first car I ever bought. It made me feel like a man, buying a car."
This is not the first time Robert has had problems with cars.
Last month, the 23-year-old star was hit by a taxi after being mobbed by a group of female fans.
The British star - who is in New York filming new movie 'Remember Me' - attempted to run across the road to escape the hoard of young girls and was clipped by a moving cab.
Fortunately, the driver slammed on his brakes upon impact and the heartthrob walked away from the incident unharmed.

Robert Pattinson chocolate bars are on sale.
Confectionary replicas of the actor's 'Twilight' character, vampire Edward Cullen, and his co-stars Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner are being sold for 79 cents each by sweet company SkyBar.
The candy comes in packaging featuring one of the three stars in character and all feature the same chocolate design, two hearts on top of a base. The top heart has Bella - Kristen's character's name - written on it, with the second featuring the Cullen family crest.
As well as the 'Heart's Desire' bars, the confectionary manufacturer's parent company Necco are also producing special boxes of 'Twilight' Sweethearts.
The fizzy sweets come in flavours such as Orange Obsession, Tempting Apple, Passion Fruit and Secret Strawberry and are emblazoned with slogans including 'Dazzle', 'Bite Me', 'Live 4-Ever', 'I heart EC' and 'Forks'.
Boxes of the hearts retail at $2.99.
Robert is not the first star to lend his image to a sweet treat.
It was recently revealed that ice-lollies in the shape of 'James Bond' actor Daniel Craig would be made.
Makers Del Monte confirmed their 'License To Chill' blueberry, pomegranate and cranberry smoothie lolly - in the shape of the 41-year-old hunk wearing just swimming shorts, inspired by the iconic scene in 'Casino Royale' - would be distributed as part of national ice cream week last month.

Sienna Miller censors her films for her parents.
The 'G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra' star gets embarrassed if her mother and father see raunchy scenes in her movies and goes to desperate lengths to stop them watching.
She admitted "My parents are very supportive of my work, but they hate seeing me die or have sex on screen. I have to cover my dad's eyes for those parts."
The actress has previously admitted she accepted her role in the big budget action movie to spare her family from having to see her portray another drug addict or troubled character.
She said: "I've never done a huge studio movie like 'G.I. Joe...', and I felt like it was time to do something where I wasn't having a breakdown or addicted to heroin or dying at the end - something that was really great fun and that people went to see and actually just had a great time seeing and weren't left damaged. I think my parents were also like, 'Please just stop doing these films - you're killing us.' "
Sienna - who played Andy Warhol's tragic, drug abusing muse Edie Sedgwick in 'Factory Girl' - is delighted she accepted their advice, because she had a fantastic time shooting the movie - which is inspired by a range of military-themed toys.
The 27-year-old blonde said: "It was a huge budget and a huge crew with things blowing up all around you all the time. I think initially I was completely overwhelmed. I'd never done fight training let alone been to a gym, so this was like a whole new experience. Once I realised what I was doing, it was really fun to make a movie that was just pure entertainment."

Katie Price has splashed out £4,000 on lavish gifts for her new man.
The glamour model - who is reportedly dating cage fighter Alex Reid following her split from husband Peter Andre in May - apparently treated the hunk to a diamond Chanel watch and a signed photograph of herself for his 34th birthday on Tuesday (21.07.09).
The hard man received the surprise gifts at his home in Aldershot and she penned a heartfelt message on the framed picture.
She wrote: "I feel a great connection with you."
Meanwhile, friends of Alex - who worked as a stuntman on the movie 'Saving Private Ryan' - are reportedly concerned with the pair's blossoming romance.
One wrote on his page on social networking website Facebook: "You'd better be careful around that ample bosom."
Earlier this week, it was claimed Alex - whose ring name is 'The Detonator' - had spent the night at the 31-year-old beauty's marital home at the weekend and wore some of her estranged husband's clothes.
A source said: "She thinks Alex is the complete opposite to her ex. He's a fearsome opponent, a real animal and would have Peter for breakfast.
"Alex went back to her house after a night of partying, and didn't bring a change of clothes. He ended up wearing some of Peter's which he had left behind."
