Ricky Gervais has been invited back to host the Golden Globes a third time.
The British funnyman has revealed that despite his controversial routine at last month's show - which saw him poke fun at Robert Downey Jr. and Ashton Kutcher among others - organisers would love for him to preside over next year's ceremony, but he plans to turn down the offer.
He said: "The ratings went up again, and the organisers asked me to consider a third year. I don't think I should. I don't know what I could do better. I certainly couldn't get more press for them, that's for sure. You know me. Two seasons is enough."
Despite complaints about his hosting of the show - including by organisers the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), who branded his remarks "unacceptable" - Ricky, 49, doesn't think he went too far with his jokes and can't believe the outcry he caused.
He added to heat magazine: "I did exactly what I went to do: improve on last year's and have a laugh. The response was staggering. It was discussed on every news channel and chat show for weeks.
"The weird thing is, the question is always, 'Did Ricky go too far?' And the answer is always, 'No'. I have yet to find anyone who was actually offended by it."

Sir Elton John and David Furnish want their son Zachary to learn from their unconventional family.
The couple welcomed their first child into the world on Christmas Day last year (25.12.10), and the 48-year-old filmmaker hopes he will take on board the message of their new film 'Gnomeo and Juliet' by understanding there are many different kinds of people in the world.
Speaking on the special green carpet at the film's UK premiere at the Odeon Leicester Square, David told BANG Showbiz: "We're really excited when he'll be old enough to see it. It's a wonderful message that we'd love him to learn about. It's important to love people for what they are and everybody in life should get along."
'Gnomeo and Juliet' - a retelling of the classic Shakespeare play 'Romeo and Juliet' with the quaint garden ornaments - is the third film Elton, 63, has written the music for, and he admits having Zachary has made him think about other children's films he could become involved in.
He said: "We'd love to do more. We've done 'Lion King', 'Road to El Dorado' and this one. I love doing this it's great.
"I hope with this film the same thing happens as well. It's great to be able to write some things for kids and we're open to it."
Other stars to walk the carpet - which was bedecked with gnomes, dancers and oversized flowers - for the film included Elizabeth Hurley and her eight-year-old Damian, troubled pop star Boy George and stylist Trinny Woodall.
Actress Emily Blunt - who voices one of the lead characters - was also in attendance, though her co-star James McAvoy did not make an appearance.

Katie Price reportedly ignored Alex Reid when he sent her a text message telling her he had been taken to hospital.
The 35-year-old cage fighter slipped and dislocated his shoulder while practising martial arts at his wife's mansion in Surrey, South East England, which he is refusing to move out of following their split.
He telephoned emergency services and paramedics who arrived at the house had to pop his shoulder back in and then took him to hospital for an X-ray.
Alex sent a message to Katie, 32, informing her of his predicament but she didn't respond, and her attitude has left him heartbroken.
A close family friend told The Sun newspaper: "Alex was absolutely gutted by how cruel she was and now realises his wife has no feelings for him whatsoever. He thinks she is a heartless b***h."
Last week, it was revealed the only way the separated couple were communicating was via text message as they continue to live in separate areas of the marital home - which they share with Katie's three children, Harvey, eight, Junior, five, and three-year-old Princess Tiaamii.
A source said: "Kate and Alex really haven't spoken for several weeks. They're like total strangers.
"They are living in separate sections of the house although they are forced to share communal areas like the kitchen.
"It is not the way Kate wants it to be. If they have to live together then she'd rather things were amicable but Alex is behaving like a child and Kate just cannot get through to him.
"It's a horrible situation, especially as Kate has the kids to think about. They're confused as they don't really know what is going on."
The blonde beauty has enlisted the help of divorce lawyer Fiona Shackleton - who represented her when she split from Peter Andre in 2009 - to organise her divorce from Alex.

Sir Anthony Hopkins' wife saved him from depression.
The British actor married Colombian born antiques dealer Stella Arroyave in 2003 and he revealed meeting her was the best thing that ever happened to him as he now thinks he was suffering from "slight depression" at that point in his life.
He explained: "She met me ten years ago when I was shut down. Shut down for some years. I didn't feel shut down at that time. I felt I was quite happy. But I was dealing with slight depression. Not trusting anyone. Certainly not trusting women.
"Everyday she wakes up happy. She's very positive about everything. I learnt from her just to take life as it comes. So I live my life in non -expectation."
Anthony credits 54-year-old Stella's easy going nature with helping him to deal with the difficulties of fame and he now doesn't care what people think of him.
He told Seven magazine: "My philosophy is: It's none of my business what people say of me and think of me. I am what I am and I do what I do. I expect nothing and accept everything. And it makes life so much easier."
Along with a brief brush with depression, Anthony, 73, also had a tendency to drink too much alcohol in his youth but he soon decided it wasn't for him.
He said: "When I first came to LA in the seventies I was drinking up a storm. Everyone else was doing drugs but I just thought: 'This is it. No more booze'. I'd had a couple of warnings. People told me: 'You've got a nice career ahead of you, you should clean yourself up.' But I didn't do it for the work, I did it for me."

Sir Elton John is dressing his son in "hand-me-down" clothes.
The flamboyant musician and his husband David Furnish, 48, became parents to Zachary Jackson Levon through a surrogate mother on Christmas Day (25.12.10) and although the pop star is famous for his extravagant spending habits, David revealed the couple are relying on friends' generosity for the baby.
He explained: "We haven't spent thousands on clothes and toys. All you need is a couple of Babygros and a lot of muslin. Friends are being really great giving us hand-me-down stuff."
While the doting dads witnessed the birth, they almost missed it because Zachary was born earlier than expected.
David said: "He was early. Our doctor told us not to worry and went on holiday and then the contractions started on the 24th and we rushed to the hospital. In one way it was a good thing because no one was around.
"We were both there at the birth - 2.45am. We stayed at the hospital for breastfeeding."
Elton also admitted the birth of Zachary has helped him recover from being rejected by his own father when he was younger.
He told the Sunday Times Magazine: "You know my father never came to hear me play. Not ever. He was a tough and emotional man. Hard. In the RAF (Royal Air Force). He was dismissive, disappointed and finally absent. I just wanted him to acknowledge what I'd done.
"It wasn't that he didn't know how to relate to kids. He left us, remarried and had another family, and by all accounts was a great dad to them. It wasn't children, it was me."
