Amy Winehouse was reportedly planning to adopt a 10-year-old girl from the Caribbean before she died.

The singer, who was found dead at her North London home earlier this month, is believed to have hired lawyers and started the adoption process for little Dannika Augustine who she met during one of her many stays on the island of St Lucia.

Dannika told The Mirror, “Amy was already my mother. I would call her mum and she would call me her daughter. She took care of me and we had fun together. I loved her and she loved me.

“She was the most amazing person and I was looking forward to living with her here or in London. I cannot believe she is gone. This is the worst thing that ever happened to me.”

The tragic singer – who was due to visit Dannika next week – first met the schoolgirl through her grandmother, Marjorie Lambert, 57, who runs a beach bar, in 2009.

She said, “Amy loved Dannika with all her heart. I don’t know why Amy took to Dannika above all the other children on the island, but from the moment they met they were inseparable. They would spend all day playing, horse-riding and walking up and down the beach hand-in-hand.

“Amy used to beg me: ‘I want to adopt Dannika. I want to take her to England.’ She was prepared to move to St Lucia to be her full-time mum.

“Amy wanted to have a child so bad. If she had not died, there is no doubt she would be here in St Lucia completing the adoption process. There is no way she would have done what she did to herself if Dannika was with her.”

Dannika’s mother, Nadia Germaine, 31, is said to have agreed to the adoption because she was struggling to support her family, and her dad, Vic Augustine, 35, who lives in Germany, confirmed the report.

“Amy called me from my mother’s [Marjorie] mobile phone. I thanked Amy for taking care of my daughter, and she said: ‘Dannika is taking care of me. I couldn’t live without her.’ Then she said: ‘I would like your permission to adopt Dannika.’

“Obviously it was difficult for me, because living in Germany, I miss Dannika very much. But my mother had told me about Amy and I knew she could give my daughter a wonderful life. I said if my mum thought it was a good idea, then it was OK with me. I also spoke to Dannika’s mother and she said she would agree to it.

“Amy phoned me two more times over the next month. She was serious about it.

“When we heard she died we were so shocked, and poor Dannika is so upset. This is very difficult for her.”

David and Victoria Beckham have reportedly splashed out £1,000 to have gold casts made of baby Harper Seven's feet.

The couple apparently had a special kit sent to their Los Angeles home to take molds of their daughter's finger and toes, before sending them to London company First Impressions, which will make the gold-plated casts.

A source told The Sun, "Harper is so precious and such a beautiful little girl they wanted a physical representation of how she is now, just a few weeks after her birth.

"David and Victoria can't stop smiling and are the proudest parents on Earth."

It is thought that the family will move back to the UK once David's contract with LA Galaxy is finished at the end of the season.

Pregnant Mel B has revealed that she was forced to ditch her exercise regime after being struck down with morning sickness.

The former Spice Girl, who is expecting her first baby with husband Stephen Belafonte next month, said that she is avoiding exercise and eating whatever she wants.

"For the first four months, I felt really sick - I was just trying to get through the day without actually throwing up, so I haven't really worked out since I've been pregnant," she told WebMD magazine.

"It was strange because with my last two pregnancies I never had morning sickness. So it was a bit shocking, to say the least."

"I've been eating a lot. All day long," she added. "I don't stop. I eat when I want and what I want."

And the normally 36-year-old cardio-mad singer, who already had daughters Phoenix, 12, and Angel, four, from previous relationships, said that she doesn't mind being a bit curvier than normal.

"I enjoy all the different phases," she said about her body shape. "Sometimes it can get uncomfortable when you're pregnant and you don't feel sexy because everything is swollen and a bit tender. But it's just about making the most of the situation that you're in. Being pregnant is a beautiful thing."

In the run-up to the birth, she's keeping quiet about the due date. "I don't like to put dates out there because there is so much pressure leading up to it," she said. "And then, if you're overdue, there's the whole stress of having to say you're five days overdue or you're a week overdue… and that can get really frightening."
