police, amy winehouse, tony azzopardi, crack cocaine, heroin, death, cctv, drugs, scotland yard

Police are trawling through CCTV footage to try and establish what Amy Winehouse did the night before her death.

Her family believe that she stayed in and played the drums, but Tony Azzopardi has claimed that she asked him to buy drugs for her, and handed over £1,200 for crack cocaine and heroin.

The Mirror reported that Azzopardi, who has drink and drug convictions, yesterday spent 30 minutes being questioned by police investigating the 27-year-old's death. Now they have turned to the security cameras outside her North London home to help piece together her final hours.

"There are enough cameras in the area to get a picture of her movements," said a source. "It's a painstaking operation which involves going through tens of hours of footage."

Azzopardi, 56, is due to meet detectives again today, Wednesday, for another interview but Scotland Yard has said there have been no arrests linked to Amy's death.

Steve Jones, Cheryl Cole, X Factor, US X Factor, Talent Competition, Accent, Sacking, Geordie

TV presenter Steve Jones has insisted that Cheryl Cole's exit from the US X Factor was nothing to do with her Geordie accent.

Reports had claimed that the 28-year-old's northern accent was to blame for her sacking from the talent competition.

But Steve has since denied the reports about 'angel' Cole.

Jones, 34, told British newspaper The Sun: "I spoke to her and said I was disappointed I wasn't going to spend a lot more time with her because she's a cool girl. The powers that be know exactly what happened. I'm my own little island backstage."

He added: "But the only thing I will say is it was nothing to do with the accent. I watched her judge about 140 contestants and only twice did someone say, 'Excuse me?'.

"If anything the people backstage were just looking in the monitors and saying, 'Oh my god it's an angel. She's beautiful'. Because she is, of course."

pippa middleton, voted, star, most desirable, skin tone, poll

Pippa Middleton has been voted the star with the most desirable skin tone of the summer.

The Duchess of Cambridge's younger sister Pippa beat off competition from Cheryl Cole and Christine Bleakley to come at the top of the poll after picking up almost 60 per cent of the vote.

Cheryl was in second place with 26 per cent of the vote while Christine was in third place with eight per cent.

Clare Laycock, from Really, said: "Our study shows that, while it's tempting to go overboard on the beach or with fake tan, this August a more natural colour is more popular.

"We all know people who come back from the salon more tangoed than tanned - now they have the perfect tan-tone chart to guide them on their tan choices for the summer."

The survey was carried out as the TV channel Really launches on Freeview for the first time.

Prince william, Kate Middleton, Budget Airline, Flybe, Manchester, Edinburgh

Prince William and Kate Middleton shunned their usual VIP treatment and opted to fly back from from the wedding of Zara Phillips and Mike Tindall in Edinburgh with a budget airline, according to reports.

Passengers were reportedly shocked to see the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge sit with the rest of the public after boarding a Flybe plane in Edinburgh for their journey to Manchester.

According to British newspaper the Daily Mail, the royal couple flew with bodyguards - but did go through the usual check-in and security procedures.

Will and Kate, both 29, are said to have sat with other passengers on their flight as the airline does not have a first class section.

They headed to Manchester as William is based at Anglesey, where he works for the RAF, and it is their nearest airport.

The pair arrived at the airport at 7.40pm on Sunday - and they were quickly taken away in a private car waiting for them on the airfield.

Meanwhile, Prince Harry, 26, chose budget airline EasyJet to make his way back home to London.
