A new poll has revealed that some Americans think that Pippa Middleton is a porn star.
The 27-year-old socialite became an instant hit after being a bridesmaid for big sister Kate at her wedding to Prince William earlier this year. But despite her popularity, a survey for Vanity Fair magazine and news programme 60 Minutes found that more than half the people in the US still don’t know who she is – and some even think that she works in adult entertainment.
The Daily Star reported that 32 per cent correctly identified her as the Duchess of Cambridge’s little sister, while others thought that she was a news correspondent and a children’s book heroine.
A source said, “It’s hard to believe that with all the attention she gets she is still relatively unknown in the States.
They might think she’s a porn star over there, but she definitely won’t be accepting any offers to star in films.”
And it is not that she hasn’t had offers. Porn mogul Steve Hirsch, the boss of Vivid Entertainment, reportedly offered her $5million (£3m) to star in ‘just one explicit scene’.
Writing to Pippa after the royal wedding, he apparently said, “As I watched a broadcast of the event, I couldn’t help but think with your beauty and attitude you could be an enormously successful adult star.
“For just one explicit scene I’d be pleased to offer you $5m and, of course, you would have your choice of partners.”

Amy Winehouse's duet with Tony Bennett is set to be released as a charity single.
The star had made a track called Body and Soul with the crooner before she was found dead at her home in London on July 23.
She recorded the song with Bennett at the Abbey Road Studios in March this year and Bennett has confirmed that it will be released to raise money for Amy's father's charity.
Mitch Winehouse is setting up a foundation to help others struggling with addiction.
Speaking to MTV, Bennett said: "What's going to happen is that we're putting that [Body and Soul] out ahead of the album.
"And it's going to a foundation that her father started - to teach all the young children not to take drugs, and all the royalties of the record will go to that."

Kate Middleton has another title under her belt - a place on Vanity Fair's 2011 International Best Dressed list.
The Duchess of Cambridge, who married Prince William in April, was included on Vanity Fair magazine's annual International Best Dressed List and joined the likes of Tilda Swinton and Carey Mulligan.
Middleton, 29, was praised for her 'whirlwind of fashion successes' in the 72nd annual list.
Kate was appearing on the list for the second time, with her first mention back in 2008.
French first lady Carla Bruni-Sarkozy topped the list with Sheikha Mozah Bint Nasser of Qatar in second place and Catherine in third.
Michelle and Barack Obama also made their first appearance together on the Best Dressed Couples list.
Justin Timberlake and Colin Firth were among those included in the Best Dressed Men category.

Robbie Williams has admitted that unlike most X Factor finalists, he isn’t a great singer.
The 37-year-old Take That star said that while contestants on talent shows have to be note perfect, he has carved a successful career for himself with a voice that is just ‘all right’.
He told The Mirror, “Most shows like this, you’ve got to sing in tune, sing in key. And I’ve managed to sell 60 million albums without doing either of those things.
“I’m an all right singer, but it’s not the most important thing. It’s everything – image, performance, it’s the soap opera of the person’s life and it’s whatever you project.
“The voice has very little to do with it.
“Madonna’s not the best singer, but I love to listen to her. The good singers are in the band behind us.”

Kelly Osbourne has taken a pop at Kate Middleton, saying, "If I had that job I would only wear a dress once."
The star of E!'s Fashion Police has turned her attention on the Duchess of Cambridge, days after slamming Christina Aguilera's fuller figure and calling her a 'fat b****'.
She appeared on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno and told him she thinks Kate shouldn't recycle her wardrobe.
"Only in this country they call it a faux pas," she said. "In England they are like look how thrifty she's being, showing the British public that the Royals are in a recession as well."
Kelly said Kate's duties should entitle her to throw or give away her clothes at the end of every day.
She fumed, "Well I'm sorry but if I had that job I would only wear it once.
"If I am going to be the future bloody Queen of England I'm going to wear that dress once because I'm giving up the rest of my life, all of my privacy, at least I can get a new dress every day."
Leno chimed in, "How about underpants? Would you throw them away?"
Kelly replied, "Well, if I could I would."
