Paul McCartney has announced plans to release a new album in 2012.
The album will feature covers of tracks that inspired the former Beatle's song writing in later life, along with guest appearances by Eric Clapton and Stevie Wonder and two brand new songs.
Talking about his choice of track listing for the LP – which will be his first since 2007 - he explained that it consists of, "the songs which inspired the songs, the songs me and John [Lennon] based quite a few of our things on."
"When I kind of got into song writing, I realised how well structured these songs were and I think I took a lot of my lessons from them," he continued to Rolling Stone magazine.
"I always thought artists like Fred Astaire were very cool. Writers like Harold Arlen, Cole Porter, all of those guys - I just thought the songs were magical. And then, as I got to be a songwriter I thought it's beautiful, the way they made those song'."
The record is set to hit the stores in February.
