Liam Neeson

(BANG) -

Liam Neeson is king of the gods.

The actor has signed up to play Zeus in the forthcoming 'Clash of the Titans' remake - originally portrayed by Laurence Olivier - with Ralph Fiennes also in negotiations for the project.

Like Gemma Arterton's Lo, Ralph's proposed character, Hades, ruler of the underworld, did not appear in the original 1981 mythological adventure, but will be depicted as trying to dethrone Zeus and take his place at the top of Mount Olympus.

Zeus' son Perseus will be played by Sam Worthington, while his love interest Princess Andromeda is being portrayed by Alexa Davalos.

Meanwhile, Ralph has also signed up to star in Ricky Gervais' new movie.

The busy star - who is also working on 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows' and the 'Nanny McPhee' sequel - will appear in 'The Men At The Pru', which is being written by the 'Office' star and his co-writer Stephen Merchant.
